I think "100 Days of Steem Initiative" is a great opportunity to earn assets and then exchange them for HIVE.
I've got mixed feelings. On the one end, the Steemit trending page looks amazing now, with lots of quality, non-blockchain related posts at the top. On the other hand, it perfectly fits the centralised image Steem has.
When you approach it from the positive side, it's a great initiative. Steemit is encouraging users to write great content and rewarding them appropriately. As a result, lots of high-quality content has been created in the past couple of days.
On the other hand, with the millions of SP Steemit Inc. is handing out, they're steering the community in a direction beneficial for the company. The sheer amount of SP involved in the Steemit Inc. run initiatives makes it a lot harder to get any value from posts not participating in those initiatives. I'm tempted to interpret that as indirect censoring, but keep in mind that I'm biased in favour of Hive.
Like @shmoogleosukami says, I think it might be a good idea to get some more writing contests running on Hive. And to democratise those competitions, organisers should allow others to join the reward pool, so winners are not solely determined by the organizer, but by collective voting. If you think the number 6 was the best, you can give your contributed part of the reward pool to that user instead. Then maybe our trending page will look just as good as the one on Steem.
TL;DR: Good idea, but too centralised. We should create a decentralized edition.
True agree with you
Not a lot as I've not been paying any attention to steem other than transferring my steem to hive every week.
Having a little look now though. It actually is a pretty good engagement idea. Everyday being in a question/topic/contest etc. It's a good way to get engagement going and also get rewards for participating.
To be far I'm surprised we don't have a 100 days of Hive just to 1up them and do it better.
