I've been trying to do some art lately because of our subject, and I am enjoying it so far.
I am also sharing my journey in animation and trying to learn soft skills just to upskill and another hobby when I feel bored but we were busy in school so I haven't studied and shared my progress again. I'll go back, don't worry!
Our professor left us a lot of work to do related to arts such as color rendering and other art styles so I had to learn how to do them (and yeah, I suck at coloring and any form of art).
My girl offered her help since she is an art person and has skills with it, so she helped me doing my assignment and taught me about the correct way of coloring (I know it's too shallow, but art is complicated you know).
I bought an oil pastel that I will use for my color wheel and color rendering. It's a pretty cheap pastel so I am not sure if it's low or high quality. But I won't be buying anything expensive since I won't be using it for too long, just for this subject.
Anyway, I feel that it still has good quality despite its price and it's surprising that it already has 12 colors. I thought something like this would have a price range of about 100-200 pesos but I only bought it for 45 pesos.
I started drawing my color wheel first — it gave a high school vibes when I was doing it but I feel that it's still good that I experienced doing this again after a long time because I had to learn to blend colors using pastel plus I also recalled what primary colors and secondary colors are also the warm and cool colors.
After the outline, I started coloring it and did not put much pressure at first (as she suggested) because she said I would blend it later.
I started with primary colors first and blended them later after coloring the first layer then putting the second layer of the color.
I stopped at the last two colors because the oil pastel that I bought doesn't have violet and red-violet color, so I had to put a lot of layers to complete it but it didn't end up well — but I have no choice.
At last, I am still completely doing it.
The next one is color rendering. I thought of an apple at first because it's a common art subject but she looked for reference online and found a cherry. It seems that she wants to do it so she decided to do everything.
You will see that she's an art person as she didn't even use or draw an outline, she used the pastel directly and drew the cherry immediately.
After blending the drawing, she finally finished it. I was insisting that I was the one who would do it because it was my assignment but I felt that she is not satisfied with what I was doing so she took it again from me.
The art ended up well and I told her that I could put it into a museum (I mean art gallery) because of its quality (LOL).
Lastly, I also made a monochrome art where I used coffee as a paint for my art. I also looked on Pinterest for some inspiration and I am not sure if it turns out well.
I started outlining a coffee. I remember that I tried using cocoa powder (just like in the photo above) but it didn't turn out well because the cocoa powder wasn't completely dissolved from the water.
Here is the difference between using cocoa powder and coffee where the cocoa is on the right side and coffee is on the left side. It was completely epic.
I started putting some coffee to completely show my subject and I feel like an artist while doing this. After that, I fill the background with coffee. However, I feel that something is missing even after doing it so I experimented with burning the sides of the paper just to give some design.
I only used the stove at our boarding house so I couldn't control the fire and it turned out a bit bad because I almost burned the whole paper.
Nevertheless, I decided to pass this despite this result, I will just think of it as another form of art and art style.
It was all fun and gained knowledge after completing the artwork. I want to do more coffee art soon and post some in Hive as another form of hobby and content for my blogs.
