The Gladiolus is one pretty flower, it symbolizes strength, integrity, remembrance and strength of character. While looking up the facts about the plant, I learnt that they were once worn by gladiators in Rome, hence the reason the flower is associated with strength. The gladiators wore gladiolus around their necks, they believed the flowers would help them win and protect them from death!
Process
0.7 Staedtler mechanical pencil and a new sketchbook given to me by an art store
I wasn’t sure on how I was going to place the characters to finished up the drawing of the flowers first. While drawing I got a bit distracted, so I lost the reference image on my phone. I’d already done the first flower at this time. I told my friend about it and told me I should be able to have the mental image of the flower. So I tried shading the second flower based on how it was in my mind, and it actually turned out pretty well!
