The act of opening up one’s heart to someone they trust, was the first thing to cross my mind as regards to this prompt. With further thinking, I realized I might not be able to execute it well, so I went with a comic book style inspiration.
I imagined going to a salon. I don’t know what the magic is, but when the hairdresser starts making my hair, I fall asleep lol. So here, I Illustrated someone slowly waking up from a short nap after her hair has been made : )
Process
I made use of some Unipin ink pens, the Royal Talens Indian ink and my Sinoart sketchbook
First thing was to draw the boxes or frames. Since the focus of the illustration was the eye movement, I settled for 3 rectangles. The first frame is her resting, the second is her slowly opening her eyes and the last is her fully awake and ready to leave the salon.
I drew over my pencil lines with the ink pens to give it some definition. In line with the description I had in mind, I used the liquid ink to cover more areas for the second and third frames since they were close-up shots while the first was more of the ink pens. Both tools give different effects and moods depending on how you use them.
I really love this piece, most especially her eyes!
