Portrait Painting Practice

Hey there! I decided to work on painting a lighter skinned person once more and I was quite frustrated at first. I sketched my muse and laid the first wash layer. As I got painting, I realized I was being so so careful and trying my best to lay perfect brush strokes, the best color where it should be and all that. It got me annoyed a bit, so I just picked up the vermilion and slapped it on the blank area for the lips.

I panicked a bit when it started bleeding unto a wet area, later on I didn’t mind and I continued painting. Doing that felt like a wall had been broken down, and I was able to paint something I really liked.

Do pardon the weird stains on the left side of the paper, it’s from the sketchbook, I have no idea why it’s that way. Next time, I’ll thoroughly examine the sketchbooks before I purchase, the stain repeats itself on other pages.

I hope you like this painting ; )
