Hey there, welcome once again to my featured art for this week. I will share with you the process I've done for my latest portrait sketch. This time using some smudging and blending of colors and I hope you would like it.
Checkout my previous post from last week here. As well as a time lapse video of this digital sketch.
Below I'll share with you some snaps and my thought process in creating this digital illustration. This is done on my iPad Pro using second gen Apple Pencil.
I first start with the guide lines to help layout the facial features and the orientation of the head.
This time I would start drawing the nose and mouth on this sketch.
I used a reference photo from a random girl in the internet thru google search.
Continuing sketching the basic outline of the face.
And moving on to the ears
This light sketch is done as a way for me to help establish proportions of the face and other features.
Now begins the outlines, this will help refine the features and cleanup excess strokes from the sketch.
Continuing with the outlines, I map out areas of the face where there will be shadows or light.
Completing the outline before applying colors.
Applying the base colors now. These looks messy at first but after smudging and blending the colors should blend in nicely.
Here you could see how the colors are nicely taking on its final appearance after playing around with the layers.
Here I am using darker colors of the left side to create that shadow effect.
And this time doing the opposite for white to show highlights coming from a light source.
Adding in some final details.
And lastly playing with the background.
