Sketch study of the Girl with a Hair bun

Every week i have built a habit to do a sketch study and write all about the process, key elements and mistakes i did . Also to see what did i learn i document it into a blog and post it here. Its a great practice each week i learnt alot and its a constant practice too.

So this week im drawing a girl with a hair bun. Her overall style is like she is a independent woman prominent collar bones and cheek bones being definedefined features in her face.

So firstly i will draw all the basic shapes like the bun was 3 different circles and her fface being circular yet pointy downwards.Its more of a wide than Longer face the nose looked like a trapezoid shape the eyebrows wer pointy and angled , clothes are like triangles for the collars and square for the shirt . Just like that we squit our eyes draw a shape we see open pur eyes see how that shape is further develooed of more simple shapes until we have our basic Sketch all ready.

Mostly the females have thia softer chubbier rounder face but in this case the girl in the reference had a more bony and well defined facial features for that i use a 4B pencil and start shading her eyebrows eyss lips , collar bones ands the eye sockets as well as her hollow jawbone.

Now we take a blending stump im using number 4 stump for this and we blend it all up softy. This creates depth in the face.
now taking the same stump because it has graphite on it i use this to shade the temples of her head and hair. I made her eyelashes more prominent .

Next step we take our 8b pencil which is the darkest black pencil i have and with this j shade her hair further in sections making some loose strands and stuff. i made her ears too blend some features again and now for the clothes and neck i shade and blend the collar bone and her clothes too . U can see a undershadow under the collar of her jacket because everything has a shadow and this is something i learnt.

After blending some parts more here is the final Result. Tbh i loved how it turned out i love her cheeks and the shading at her eye socket area.
