Hello, Hiver friends and fellow art enthusiasts! How are you there? I hope youβre all having an amazing day.
This striking coffee painting commands your attention with its serene lakeside scene at sunset. The use of rich brown coffee shades effectively illustrates a lone heron standing gracefully in the shallows. The soft light of the setting sun, subtly suggested through the hazy atmosphere, bathes the water in a warm glow. Overhanging branches enhance the depth and create a powerful sense of peaceful seclusion in the composition.
The true strength of this piece lies not just in its subject matter but in the innovative medium itself. Crafted using coffee, it exemplifies the remarkable versatility of this unexpected material. The careful variations in tone and texture produced through skilled application create a mesmerizing effect. The overall impression exudes serenity and invites contemplation, urging the viewer to pause and fully appreciate the simple yet profound beauty of nature. The delicate depiction of the heron and the atmospheric perspective together forge a truly captivating masterpiece.
I used three types of painting brushes for this piece, and it took me an hour to finish it. For those who are interested in trying this unique medium, you can follow the step-by-step basic methods below.
Materials Needed:
π Watercolor Paper or sketching Paper
π Pencil and Eraser
π Coffee Powder
π 2 small cups ( lighter and darker shades)
π Ruler
π Clean Water
π Rag
π Paper napkin or paper towel
Brushes:
π Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
π Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
π Filbert brush
Note: Keep all the materials ready before you start painting.
Basic Procedure:
β’ Outline or sketch your painting reference.
β’ Paint using a lighter shade of the background by creating a beautiful texture.
β’ On the middle ground, paint the first layer of the subject.
β’ The same procedure with the foreground.
β’ Once the first layer is completely dry, you can proceed to paint with a darker shade of coffee.
β’ Then add details to come alive of your painting. I used a liner brush for the thin details.
Take note: In putting details, you cannot have sharp lines and shapes unless it is completely dry.
