Art Journal: The Monochromatic Beauty Of Coffee Painting

in Sketchbook2 years ago (edited)

Greeting to all Hiver friends, Welcome to another fun painting that I created today. In this art journal, I painted a seascape landscape made of coffee. This medium is quite interesting because it can create a beautiful piece of art. You will love the texture once you apply it to a canvas. It is very challenging, but if you know the technique of watercolor it is just the same.

Materials Needed:
👉 Watercolor Paper or sketching Paper
👉 Pencil and eraser
👉 Coffee Powder
👉 2 small cups ( lighter and darker shades)
👉 Ruler
👉 Clean Water
👉 Rag
👉 Paper napkin

Brushes:
👉 Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
👉 Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
👉 Round Brush #8 / 5/32" / 4.0mm
👉 Filbert brush

Note: Keep all the materials ready before you start painting.

Basic Procedure
• Outline or sketch your painting reference.
• Paint using a lighter shade of the background to create distance.
• Paint the first layer of the trees.
• Once the first layer is completely dry, you can proceed to paint with a darker shade of coffee.
• The same procedure in painting the boat, start first with the lighter shade.
• Then add details to come alive of your painting. In putting the details, you cannot have a sharp line or a shape unless it is completely dry.

Process:

That's all for today, I hope I give you some inspiration through this simple art using a unique style of painting. Thank you for stopping by and God bless hiver friends.
Happy Painting!😀

These are really wonderful, I've painted with coffee before, basically making various strength cupfuls, it's fun!

What beautiful shades you have created with coffee! I tried it before, not much success because the coffee was weak (brewed in a coffee pot with lots of water, primarily for the purpose of drinking). Sometimes I washed my watercolor brush in my morning coffee, hahaha! Now I have instant coffee at home so I can try it again.
