Such beautiful stories! I just love Mr Toad and his car, Rat, Mole and Badger. I think all children should be able to watch or read that as well as Roald Dahl and Beatrix Potter. But I definitely felt the atmosphere of England, painted in watercolour, at the turn of the century.

I agree I grew up on Beatrix Potter and many of my own childhood books were old family children's stories from the Victorian times, always entertaining stories.

My mom had a beautiful book that looked home typed, like on a typewriter and bound together by an individual rather than in a production line. I'm not sure where it came from, but to this day I believe there is still magic in its pages. The story was about a little girl called Sylvia who would go on adventures with fairies in her sleep. Every morning, she would wake up to find a painting from the fairies to remind her of her adventures and to reassure her that they were real. For a while, my mom used to paint a picture for me every night, so I believed in fairies too. ❤️
