Hey, here is the throwback to my black and white still life pencil sketching practice back in 2020. π°οΈ This journey was all about honing my skills in pencil work, focusing on various elements and objects to capture the essence of their tones, shapes, and textures.
Apple Practice:
The main focus was on mastering the art of tone and shape. π The challenge lay in representing the subtle gradients and contours to bring the apple to life on paper.
Thumbnail Magic:
Learning the art of cropping and positioning - creating dynamic thumbnails to lay the foundation for a well-balanced composition. Thumbnail sketches played a crucial role in the creative process.
Aluminium Kettle Reflections:
Trying to representation of reflections on the surface of an aluminium kettle, capturing the play of light and shadow from surrounding objects.
Cloth Folds:
The challenge shifted to cloth, aiming to master the intricate art of drawing realistic folds and capturing the fabric's texture.
Glass & Bottle Transparency:
Delving into the transparent and glassy world, the focus shifted to a wine glass and bottle. Rendering these objects was all about capturing their unique, translucent qualities.
Combo Challenge:
Combining all the previous elements, pushing my skills to represent multiple objects within a limited timeframe. The rush added an exciting challenge to the mix.
Camera Angle Experiment:
Trying out different camera angles to find the perfect perspective for sketching. Sometimes, a fresh viewpoint can make all the difference in bringing a scene to life.
Cloth - Line Sketching:
A revisit to cloth, this time emphasizing the importance of line sketching strokes. This added a new dimension to the overall sketch, focusing on the finer details.
Artistic Crop:
The final challenge was trying to crop a better outer shapes, adding an artistic touch to the overall presentation.
Tools:
1.Faber-Castell Pencil Set
2.Faber-Castell Art Eraser
3.Mono Zero Elastomer Eraser(thin eraser use to clean the small detail also highlight)
4.Mono graph mechanical pencil
5.Uni A3 Paper 135gsm
6.Wooden drawing stand
π· Unfortunately, no behind-the-scenes process recordings this time - old habits die hard! π Nonetheless, each sketch was a stepping stone in my artistic journey. Here's to the continuous pursuit of improvement and the joy of creating!

Definitely wowπ² I like your shading, I have sketches but my problem is my shading. I'm glad to see you here in hive. Idolll @craizuss
Thank you so much! π For shading, pay attention to light source and direction. Experiment with different pencil pressures. Keep honing your skills, and your shading will improve over time.
Those are so nice, at first I thought it was digital, the strokes and paper is so clean and your camera did a great job too.
Thank you!π. I actually use a scanner for my artworks to maintain the clarity and precision of the strokes. Cameras can introduce some variations, but the scanner helps capture the details more accurately.
That's excellent!
Those materials used to create this art are so expensive.
That eraser cost minimum 6.5hbd over here according to market capital
Yeah, you're right! Art materials can be pricey. That eraser is a gem, even if it costs 6.5 HBD. I enjoy testing new materials; it's like a hobby within a hobby for me. The eraser is super useful in my creations, helping me a lot to doing highlight when drawing glass material.
Something I need to practice, the still like sketching. Your work is awesome.
