A Very Doodle Drawing

in Sketchbook2 years ago

In the absence of a subject, I tend to slip back into doodling. And I have a fondness for simple black and white doodles with ink pens.

I start by making short lines here or there and let the pen do what it wants. Then when I start to see something I run with it. There really is no rhyme or reason to it, and it seems like each one of these I do takes on a life of its own.

For this drawing I used a Rotring Isograph .5mm fiber tipped pen. They work well for me and are refillable. The black is very deep and the tip allows me to see exactly where it's going to lay the ink.

As the page starts to fill out, I go back through and add some detail. Some of these drawings end up looking very organic, and some end up looking more like machinery. Mostly I'm just playing with ideas to see if they work.

I suppose you may think it's getting cluttered, but I like it to be a little darker. I enjoy the contrast and the detail, even if I don't know what it is.

Here's the "finished" product. Like so much art, it never feels done. Instead we just decide to stop working on it.

I hope you enjoyed this. :) I'd love to see some of your drawings.

Love these drawings! Hello! I came to find you :)

Maybe you should try and post these in some art communities?

You'll get mare coverage and make more connections if you post via communities btw. And they usually have super cool prompts and stuff running to encourage engagement.

Off to read some of your stuff now!

I'm working on it. This was published in the Sketchbook community, but I'm branching out as I go. :)

Ah cool. Don't know that one! :)

Yet ;)

Nice to see you around!
