Landscape painting inspired by Highland light in Truro Massachusetts, Cape Cod.
Besides being a sketch and painter of little characters I am also a landscape/seascape painter. Living on the sea, it's hard not to be influenced by the sea and views of Cape Cod.
I'm also going to be delving into some fun printmaking using my seascapes this year.
I've had some fun trying it out but not ready to share that thus far.
This piece is built up over MANY layers:
Flat colors built up over layers before a more painterly, small stroke approach on the final layers.
Here's a gif of a few of the layers:
Much like when I work on a canvas in my studio ,when I paint landscapes digitally I do the same. Tho rather than having to use masking fluid to outline the shapes of house, lighthouse, landscape, I can use a layer and a digital mask to keep my 'oil paint' in sections. Also having various layers does make for an easier way to keep tabs on the build up , whilst in real live, once committed, not as easy to experiment.
I hope you enjoyed my seascape and that you find a moment in your day to indulge in your own passions.
What I fear in painting seascapes is how to paint water and reflections, I find it intimidating. XD
Thank you, yes reflection can be hard, but my landscapes are not very representational and certainly not going for photo realism, so I'm happy with the painterly style :)
A good painting has been made with great care being taken line by line. Despite being always, it looks very attractive.
Thank you so much.
