Portrait of a Lady

Hey Y'all!

💢What's up Sketchbook Community!💢

I'm back again with a fresh digital artworx for you. This time it's a portrait of a lady, made with IbisPaint on my phone.

The reference has a calm and low key type of feel, with a strong, yet diffused light source which made it very useful for studying the light and shadow of the model's face.

Ibis

This portrait is the first time I've used the new IbisPaint feature, 👉reference window👈 (v 9.4.1). Man, is it convenient or what. It lets you see your chosen pic and adjust it right there on the canvas, so no more using 2 screens or shuffling back and forth between apps. Life saver!

While I am satisfied with the sketch...those colors 😲. In my previous post I mentioned my struggles with colors. It's been almost 1 year since I started using IbisPaint in earnest, and in that time I've gotten to know the free version a lot better. I still really enjoy using it (almost) daily.

On the Horizon

But change is constant, so it's time to go to the next level. I have a plan to get a tablet, subscribe to Ps and find some resources to up my color game this summer because I am getting tired of the gap between my vision and my end-product.

I'm going to keep simplifying my processes until they're a lot more efficient because I work a day job, and I want my finished artworx to match my ideas more closely. When I look at my progress pics I see steps I can omit or combine.

The Great News

There are tons of skills courses available online at very reasonable prices - so that's super exciting. I've already taken a couple non-art classes and am really looking forward to leveling 🆙️ my art game.

The Journey

So anyway, that said, here's my most recent portrait of a lady-
