So I recorded the whole process of drawing a mandarin using colored pencils just to see if I can have a career of recording video processes hahaha but I failed badly. First I have an arm/stand that I mounted on the table but I wasn't able to mount it properly because it's a clip-on and there isn't much space at the edge of the table to clip onto just because there's a metal bar that holds it.. So the arm that holds my phone is very wobbly.
I didn't know the table shaking was too noticeable in the video until I was half-way so I ended up changing the angles and the mounting as well, but still wobbles a lot for some reason. Whatever, I just finished the video and drawing anyway.
In the video you can see the changes in angles lol so that was one of the problems.
Another problem that I had was the video-editing. Everything was smooth until the export part. For some reason the color changed A LOT when exporting and I tried a lot of solutions I found on Youtube but they didn't work. So I had to re-do all the color adjustments on the video just so I can export it properly. I've never experienced this problem before but it might be because I used iPhone to film this and I usually use a camera for videos. Besides, it's been years already since I've done any video recording + editing in Premiere Pro so I kinda forgot a lot of things.
At the same time drawing while recording is so annoying anyway. I didn't even have a proper lighting to begin with and I was just relying on the window light lol. So yeah... I guess I'll just stick to photo process with my traditional drawings and stuff and just do a recording with my digital paintings as they're easier. :P
The music in the video is from Streemtunes where everything is free (royalty free, copyright free). Awesome website I just found a few weeks ago. Literally all music there can be used for free without cost and can be used even in monetized videos. The music are mostly for creators, streamers, and gamers, and the founders just wanted for the creators to have free access to music without them risking of getting DMCA'd or banned. Really awesome. :D

prisma color pencil just hits so different! long lasting material that'll give you the result you wanted worth it ~
i have the same problem 😭 hahaha
Really easy for blending :D hahah the table is more likely the problem. If the table didn't shake then the arm won't shake as well🤣
I want one now.
😄
Good
i think it turn out very well :) and reminds me when i draw bodegones in art school 😌 keep going 💙
Me too haha lowkey wanna just pain still life on canvas cos they're relaxing
Great!!Very right that you are not afraid to experiment!
Thank you!!
It's turned out quite nicely and maybe just pictures aren't so bad. The details are lovely indeed. And I didn't think an orange had such beautiful details till now🌺
Thank you! Sometimes people want to see video process hehe but yeah pictures are also more than enough :D
Wow, that's amazing! The way you see what colours need to go into it is incredible!
You obviously know the colour pallet very well!
I think your video came out really well, nothing wrong with it and I really enjoyed watching it!
Thanks for the heads up on the music site, that'll come in very handy indeed! 👍😃
This is really cool
Your highlights really brought a whole level of realness
I thought I fucked it up with the highlights cos they looked like worms in the end, should have drawn it circular or something lol thank you!
Nice to see that you are getting into colored pencils. And yeah, like you, I know I will be frustrated with recording the process.
I feel like it's such a bother to set up, unlike when doing things digitally all you have to do is set whatever screen recording app you use to record the whole screen at the press of the button.
Also, pictures are going to make the blog more accessible to people who are on low-bandwidth.
I just switch from digital to traditional from time to time cos I always crave that real pencil on paper feels 🤣 the recording is a real challenge and even just deciding where to put your camera is hard. You also don’t just hit record and draw normally cos depending on the camera placement you always have to avoid getting your head out of the way.. true I’ve never really thought of data usage, I guess if there’s video you can always include screenshots of the images so they don’t have to play it
Wow! You did it very well. I am thinking if I will do it for sure I just can draw a circle lol.
Haha starting with shapes are the most common way to do it
I really like your shading and highlighting. It really gives a lot of detail to the drawing, and gives it depth and texture.
Thank you!
