English
Hey, what's up? Today I share with you a new drawing made with pens, fresh from the oven of my sketchbook. I have called it “Cloth Head”.
It is a drawing of a surreal head covered with a kind of cloth and supported by two hands, as if it were being exhibited to the world. Its aesthetic has something of those old black and white cartoons, which is noticeable in the curious imp that sprouts from the top of the head. I was inspired by scarecrows (perhaps you already noticed). In the following lines of this post I will talk about the process.
Process
Well, as I said at the beginning, it is a drawing made with pens (those cheap ones you find in offices). I used one red and one black. But I didn't start the first strokes with the pens, I did it with a pencil sketch. This was the sketch with the character design:
It's pen time! I made the first strokes in the gloves of the hands that support the head and the character with horns that is pulling the fabric. It is important to make light strokes first and then gradually increase the intensity.
I continue the process by drawing the fabric that covers the head, the teeth and the missing part of the hands. Here the shading is the important thing, as I wanted to highlight things like the grotesque teeth.
Now I draw the eyes and the bow under the head. For the eyes I used the red pen, which I think gives a haunting touch to the drawing. I finish by erasing the remaining pencil strokes with the eraser and adding some black and red lines in the background.
What will be under that cloth? I don't know, nor do I care to know. See you in a next drawing friends, take care of yourselves.
