How's it going fellow sketch artists and doodlers? Is your new year getting off to a good start? I can't remember the last time I either sketched or shared something here, but I had fun with this ink drawing today.
I teach high school in the capital city of Laos. It's test time, so I need to try to simulate the IGCSE standards so that when my students take the actual tests, they will feel prepared. That means no phones, talking, going to the bathroom, or asking any questions for two hours.
You can draw pictures when you are done because it doesn't distract other people still taking the test. Look at what one of my students drew while she was bored. She just discarded it and left it on the floor so I thought it would be cool if I "finished" it.
I'm over forty so I need these damn reading glasses now. I never use them. I can put my phone into old man large text and icon mode, but I found it helped to have the reading glasses on to see the pen tip. I have a friend in his 80s who taught me that you don't need reading glasses. He said that if you close your eyes, relax, and try to look at some small text, you'll be able to see it for a split second. If you concentrate and practice you can increase the time to two seconds, then three, and eventually you won't need glasses at all. I've been able to improve from one to two seconds so I can tell you from my experience that it works.
I love what she did with the hair and how the ears pop out of the hair, but she didn't know how to draw the eyes. Well, that's my favorite part of any human drawing. How's it looking now?
I trusted the pencil artist too much because I can now see that the blonde girl's right eye is a bit off. Oh well, I'll just cut her out later. How about my choice of hair color?
That's as far as I'll take this sketch in the physical world. I've glued it up next to my desk. The original pencil artist was happy to see that I inked and colored her sketch. She imagined the girl with purple hair, but she liked the pink too.
I tried to colorize the photo with an AI, but I found none could do anything with it. It seems like AI right now is just for colorizing old black-and-white photos. She did look a bit better with an anime background though. Thanks for reading about my ink and colored pencil sketch today. Have a good one!
