Making mandalas for me is something I really enjoy, it entertains and relaxes me, it's a way to reconnect with myself and do something very nice at the same time. This year I did a workshop for children during their vacations.
Algo que he disfrutado mucho es que se han inscrito un par de niñas muy dedicadas. Una era Sofía de 11 años y la otra era Daniela de 13 años, las dos muy disciplinadas a la hora de sentarse a dibujar, pero al mismo tiempo muy graciosas. Pasamos 5 días compartiendo historia y hasta escuchando música juntas mientras íbamos realizando las diferentes actividades.
One thing I really liked is that a couple of very dedicated girls signed up. One was 11 year old Sofia and the other was 13 year old Daniela, both very disciplined when it came to sitting down to draw, but at the same time very funny. We spent 5 days sharing stories and even listening to music together as we went through the different activities.
Enseñar a otras personas a hacer sus propios mandalas es algo que a mi me llena de mucha alegría, ya que recuerdo cuando comencé a dibujarlas. Yo me criticaba mucho y no me gustaban los resultados porque quería que todo quedara perfecto y no sabia como lograrlo. Poco a poco fui entendiendo varias cosas. Lo principal es que los mandalas perfectos no existen y que al ser una expresión de mi ser era inútil buscar que fueran así. Cada mandala es hermoso a su manera, forma parte y es reflejo del momento que se esta viviendo.
Teaching other people to make their own mandalas is something that fills me with a lot of joy, as I remember when I started drawing them. I criticized myself a lot and I didn't like the results because I wanted everything to be perfect and I didn't know how to achieve it. Little by little I understood several things. The main thing is that perfect mandalas do not exist and that since they are an expression of my being, it was useless to try to make them that way. Each mandala is beautiful in its own way, it is part of and a reflection of the moment that is being lived.
Fui desarrollando varias técnicas que pueden hacer el proceso de aprendizaje un poco mas sencillo, como entender los diferentes elementos por separado y luego aprender a unirlos o el uso de una estructura como guía para el dibujo.
I developed several techniques that can make the learning process a little easier, such as understanding the different elements separately and then learning to unite them or the use of a structure as a guide for the drawing.
Mandalas are beautiful and this is a great workshop with the children!
