in Sketchbook9 days ago (edited)

Good evening to everyone in UTC+7, and warm greetings to all of you wherever you are.
Hobbies seem to be a means of escape from the stress of work and seemingly endless routines, like what I am currently experiencing. Whatever happens, I will continue to channel my hobby, especially drawing, when I have free time, and what is the result? I made a steam locomotive using a black pen.
Before we continue with how the process, I will discuss a bit about my concept and why a steam locomotive? In my opinion, the identical train is a steam locomotive, maybe I was influenced by western world films about cowboys, I became very interested in the smoke of the locomotive soaring high dividing the plains and mountains of the wild west, what an impressive achievement in the field of mass transportation, in my drawing, I took a scene when the train was in a rocky valley area, I named this work "An iron snake among the rocks". Please enjoy the process

Drawing process

I used A4 size HVS paper as the medium, a 2B pencil to make the initial sketch, a ruler to make the grid and image frame, and a 0.7 mm black ballpoint pen for finishing.

Materials and tools

  • Graphite Pencil
  • HVS sheet as image media
  • A black pen
  • Scanners
  • A cup of coffee ☕️
  • Time ⌚️
  • Patience
  • Imagination

At first, I made guidelines using a ruler and pencil to determine the proportions of my drawing and started sketching a shape gradually using a pencil.

Then, I continue with the process of outlining with a ballpoint.

Continued with the shading process, which takes a long time because I have to determine which objects are light and which objects are dark according to the direction of the light source.
