Saludos amigos de HIVE
Esta tarde os traigo un trabajo que terminé el año pasado. En este caso es un retrato a grafito de la famosa pintora mexicana Frida Kahlo, cuya vida dedicó prácticamente entera a auto-retratarse.
This afternoon I bring you a project that I finished last year. In this case, it is a graphite portrait of the famous Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, whose life she dedicated practically her entire life to self-portraits.
Could you tell me before starting which is the drawing and which is the photo?
As always, I started by making a grid on the paper, to continue making the freehand sketch.
Once the whole sketch was finished, I started to fill in the drawing. I have the habit of almost always starting a portrait, starting with the eyes and working from there.
Como ya he dicho en otro post anterior, yo siempre trabajo por capas, es decir, relleno una zona con el tono mas suave y voy dandole capas con tonos mas oscuros cada vez por la zona que deseo hasta conseguir la textura que quiero.
En el video video final lo podéis ver mucho mejor para entenderlo.
As I have already said in another previous post, I always work in layers, that is, I fill an area with the softest tone and layer it with darker tones each time through the area I want until I get the texture I want.
In the final video you can see it much better to understand it.
Siempre dibujo desde el móvil, tengo el móvil anterior guardado y solo lo utilizo para dibujar, porque a demás de ahorrarme imprimir la foto que quiero dibujar, tengo la luz de la pantalla que puedo ajustar dependiendo de si hay mas luz o menos en la habitación.
I always draw from my mobile, I have the previous mobile saved and I only use it to draw, because in addition to saving me from printing the photo I want to draw, I have the light of the screen that I can adjust depending on whether there is more or less light in the room .
La técnica que he utilizado para este trabajo se llama ¨Realismo¨ y trata de hacer un dibujo lo mas parecido a la foto original aunque en este caso, la foto tiene cerca de 60 años con lo cual la calidad no era muy buena.
The technique that I have used for this work is called ¨Realism¨ and it tries to make a drawing as similar as possible to the original photo, although in this case, the photo is about 60 years old, so the quality was not very good.
Y este es el resultado final. ¿Que os parece? Le puse un marco negro y quedó fenomenal ¿No creen?
Como siempre que termino un dibujo, aconsejo utilizar un spray fijador para que el grafito se adhiera al papel y dure muchos años intacto.
And this is the final result. What do you think? I put a black frame on it and it turned out great, don't you think?
As always when I finish a drawing, I recommend using a fixative spray so that the graphite adheres to the paper and lasts for many years intact.
Durante la realización de este trabajo tuve mi móvil grabando todo el rato en modo TimeLapse para luego hacer un montaje de video de todo el proceso. Os lo dejo aquí abajo.

I know how challenging it is to transfer portraits from phone view to paper. You did an excellent job here.

La verdad es que es difícil transferir dibujos desde un móvil con una pantalla tan pequeña pero con paciencia se consigue, jejeje. Un saludo amigo
