So not too long ago I was just casually doom scrolling on TikTok, and then a very intriguing video showed up. I saw someone drawing on a normal grayscale, and then used the color tool to apply colors instead of rendering in color. I thought it'd be a very interesting way of painting, and I suck at colors. I'm more used to grayscale mostly because I'm a traditional artist that uses mostly pencils, so I mostly rely on black graphite rather than colored pencils.
The steps are just as mentioned earlier. Just render your drawing on a grayscale, not much to it. A important tip is, using plain white will make that part stay white even after painting, so I reccomend using only white on bright highlights and gray on the rest of the painting.
Then, create a new layer and set it to "Color". Then just simply use that layer and add colors over your colorless painting.

Really liked it. Obviously I added more details and rendering on different layers to correct some stuff, but it's a very easy way to add colors.
Hope you enjoyed, take care and see you on my next post.
