It's been a few days of experimenting with my digital drawing pad. I've been taking skillshare classes and watching YouTube videos on how to draw features for digital art. It's actually difficult for me to learn how to draw features that are not realistic. I've had to relearn how to draw eyes and noses and mouths in new fun ways. It's only been two days of drawing big eyes and getting used to them, so I think I'll improve with time.
Before I share my recent works, I just want to share my last watercolor piece before all this experimenting began
And then I started doing sketches like this one
I transformed it to the digital painting below
Another one in the same style
Even though I paint as a hobby, I'm very critical of my work and spend a lot of time looking at a finished study to see what could be improved. This one was difficult because I kept moving from getting defined lines to blurred out lines. Again, this is one thing that stresses me about digital art. You have so many chances to redo a piece and multiple variations unlike traditional art where you know that one stroke or two of your paint brush is definitive. I hate and like this about digital art but mostly hate it.
I kept on pushing with this medium and decided to cross hatch over a portrait of mine and got this result which I really liked
Then I did another one
These ones I did by just laying block colors and I also liked how they turned out. I adjusted the hue and saturation to get the other results.
