Más allá de la foto que use de referencia para realizar esta obra, existe una pequeña historia y el motivo por el cual la elegí como mi inspiración para mi primera publicación se la quiero compartir.

Beyond the photo that I used as a reference to make this work, there is a little story and the reason why I chose it as my inspiration for my first publication I want to share it with you.

Fue exactamente el 21 de abril del 2020, estábamos a poco más de un mes del inicio de la cuarentena obligatoria impuesta por el gobierno como medida para controlar la propagación del covid-19 en Perú, los viajes internacionales e interprovinciales no estaban permitidos en ese momento, debido a mi trabajo (saneamiento ambiental) nuestro equipo tenía permiso de trasladarse más allá de la frontera de la ciudad capital, nuestro servicio era una desinfección en la sede del poder judicial de un pequeño distrito llamado Matucana, en la provincia de Huarochirí.

A las 8:00 am salimos cuatro personas que formábamos el equipo de trabajo. Mientras circulábamos aun dentro de la ciudad de Lima se podía observar una atípica Panamericana norte, relativamente vacía, muy diferente al caos vehicular que estamos acostumbrado en la capital.

At 8:00 a.m., four of us who made up the work team left. As we drove through the city of Lima we could see an atypical Panamericana Norte, relatively empty, very different from the vehicular chaos we are used to in the capital.

El tapabocas podía cubrir un poco mi expresión de felicidad por viajar (es una de mis pasiones), conocer lugares nuevos. Mientras circulaba por una pequeña carretera, dejamos atrás Chosica y su sol radiante todo el año, mi celular en mano para registrar con fotografías parte del recorrido, muchas montañas y un tren circulando en sus alturas, el rio Rímac y una cascada formaban parte del paisaje.

The mask could cover a little my expression of happiness for traveling (it is one of my passions), to know new places. While driving along a small road, we left behind Chosica and its radiant sun all year round, my cell phone in hand to record with photographs part of the route, many mountains and a train running on its heights, the Rimac river and a waterfall were part of the landscape.

Llegamos por fin a nuestro destino, después unas dos horas y media. Si bien fui por motivos de trabajo a Matucana no perdí la oportunidad de visitar algunas calles, su plaza de Armas, disfrutar de un clima de unos 18ºc antes de regresar a la capital. Fue un viaje rápido por la pandemia, pero me hice la promesa de regresar algún día como turista para conocer sus cascadas, sus montañas, su gente y cultura.

We finally arrived at our destination, after about two and a half hours. Although I went to Matucana for work reasons, I did not miss the opportunity to visit some streets, its main square, and enjoy the 18ºc weather before returning to the capital. It was a quick trip because of the pandemic, but I promised myself to return someday as a tourist to see its waterfalls, its mountains, its people and culture.
