Going through the long road of creative blockage

Hello to all! My dear #hive friends
It's been a while since I've stopped by to post an illustration. I lasted a long time to do it, you know that anxiety, plays dirty tricks in the head. I started this illustration and I was blocked, with the blocking, I was afraid to continue it and I didn't like it. I opened photoshop, saw the illustration and then closed the program. Friends, I was so afraid to continue it, so much that you can't imagine.
Someone told me "draw for you" and with that I started, I had no direction, I didn't know what to do, so I started on this path called "creative block" inside there are existential crises, anxiety, fear of how the illustration will be. I am grateful to be here and to be able to tell you how I have been feeling these days.

THE PROCESS

proces1.jpg

I really didn't know what to do, I felt that everything would look horrible, I just started with a lot of fear of how things would turn out.

proces2.jpg

I think I don't know very well how to draw people with long hair because my hair comes out very static, without movement and I think that in the future I would like to draw men with long hair, I like them....

proces3.jpg

I had to look at Pinterest references, I have a personal board of outfits I would like to wear and I always use that as a guide to make the clothes for most of my characters. When I'm really inspired, I take the risk of designing the clothes that my characters will wear. Someone has been encouraging me to design clothes again.

I would like to put more and more details to the illustrations I do, sometimes I'm extremely lazy but step by step, I'm getting there, you know, at my own pace.

proces5.jpg

Sometimes I think I should see more references, here I made a false step, those shadows that I am starting to do, then I removed it because I wanted to try something new with a shadow of another color, without dividing the illustration in many but many layers of shadows. What I did, I'm about to explain them to you.

proces6.jpg

I changed the order of things, what I did was to merge all the layers into a group for the character, place a layer of multiplied color on top of it, lower the opacity, and start creating the lights from what I was erasing from that dark purple multiplied layer.

proces7.jpg

This layer of lights, I blurred it with a finger brush.

here you can see that I am blurring

proces9.jpg

I made lights several times, it is new to me this technique so it was do and do until I was satisfied.

Then I finally started with the leftovers, using the same shade of purple but without the opacity, multiplying the color as well.

proces12.jpg

After several layers of shadows, testing and also erasing, I started to make the background.

Here come the final details!

Almost ready!!

FINAL ARTWORK

I think I'm very happy because they helped me to continue this illustration, they supported me and I liked the result, I hope you like it too. I hope to see you soon. Wish me luck to get out of this path called "creative block".

I don't know if you have done it before, but you need to monetize your art and it seems wrong to me that you don't have the necessary valuation, since you do a beautiful job and this kind of cartoon design is one of the most attractive for the viewer. But the important thing is to keep advancing and progressing with the passage of time, for example, this particular drawing is very well done, not only for the design itself, but for the shadows and the game of night lights it has. I guess I don't have much to say since I'm not an artist or anything like that, but as a fan of those who draw, I can assure you that you're doing very well.

Also, you could try to create more characters, create stories for them and do some good publicity for your work..... Thanks for sharing, always a pleasure to be here. Greetings and bles 😊

I was speechless, really. I am super grateful for your words, so much so that I want to cry. It's the first time I draw a picture like this. Sometimes the best ideas come after a creative block hahahahahah. Thank you so much! I will follow your advice <3

Beautiful piece.

Thank you very much!!!

It is normal to suffer creative blocks, it is part of the life of an artist, but don't let your fears control your life and with it, your artistic growth, so my best advice for you is to be patient with yourself, avoid comparing yourself, and draw whenever you can, let your imagination fly, maybe, in the end your work will be something wonderful!

Thank you very much! I feel like I'm going to cry hahahaha I had to copy your comment, I'm going to make a wallpaper with it to read it daily. Thank you so much !!!!

The dreaded creative block; we are all victims from time to time. It is normal. The important thing is to always keep going.

My advice is to do different things from time to time. For example, if you like love story books, read a horror one. You will see that ideas begin to flow from the least expected places.

Your drawings are very good, seriously, very good. ✌️

Hey! That's a great idea! I love it!!! I am so grateful for your comment!!! Thank you so much!

Oye, acabo de notar que eres de Venezuela... jajaja y yo escribiéndote en ingles. Gracias a ti por compartir tu arte ✌️
