hi, i have both actually. at the beginning like everybody else i bought a non display tablet. That was about three or more years ago.
After i got a little better and saved up some money i bought the cheapest display tablet possible.
I use them both now. and yes, its very hard to draw on non display tablet but if you practice enough you should feel more comfortable. There are some rules like how to hold the tablet and pen.
