Whenever I go through a period of not creating art and then somehow get back to it, most of the time, it is by starting at my roots. That means either a watercolor painting or pencil sketching and drawing. And since I had just stuffed up a watercolor painting, turned to mixed media and still being stuffed up... pencil it was.
I cleaned up my art corner from the wonderful mixed media mess and laid out my block of paper, pencils, sharpener, and eraser and that's when the hubby called my name.
He is an author and part of an SFF group with regular meet-ups in person and virtual and they hosted their very first 2-day virtual event with presentations about miscellaneous sci-fi, fantasy, writing, art, and other topics that sounded interesting.
So - change of plans. Instead of paper and pencil, it was iPad, pencil, and Procreate. And to stay on the subject I chose and present
Princess Leia of StarWars
When looking for a reference photo I was thinking of maybe making it a StarWars series and also drawing Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. We'll see. For now - this is the finished drawing of Leia and underneath it the reference photo I used as well as a gif of the process taken from the timelapse that Procreate records.
I am really not very good at realistic drawings but I'm okay with that. Got to have room for improvement, right?
Have a great rest of your day!
