. If my memory serves me correctly, I may have first noticed the book pages with the French title "Inséparables" at the top. They were from a book one of the students brought and the title just appealed to me. With no preconceived idea in mind, I glued the pages side by side on my journal spread, filling most of the space. That was intriguing because it gave the impression that a book was lying open on top of my journal. Flipping through a magazine, I almost immediately found the vintage image of the couple, which seemed to fit perfectly. It is an illustration by Edmund Dulac, and I love how it has a feel that is pre-Raphaelite. But naturally, that day I was more focused on what was going on in the classroom than on the page, so I just glued the image in the first spot that felt right, kept adding collage papers to the two book pages from time to time, and that was that.
