Pandemic Artwork

I rarely draw or sketch any artwork until Covid-19 struck us so hard more than 2 years ago. My drawings were just merely cartoon characters and anime figures. I was not born a natural artist. My hands were not built to make good artwork however, I was obsessed with animated drawings and somehow it became my passion. But, I ask myself, “how can I do it if I don’t have the talent?” I can’t even draw a simple figure of a cat or dog. So, years have passed, I resigned to the notion that drawing, sketching and making artwork is not for me.

One day, I told myself, if I don’t have the natural talent to make good artwork, then probably I’ll just trace it. I just want to enjoy what I’m doing even if tracing is really challenging and really difficult most of the time. Probably, some artist will not consider my artwork legit because for them tracing is a form of cheating. But what can I do, I found my artwork satisfying, well, at least for my own satisfaction.

Anyway, my artwork is not for public consumption and I don’t have the bragging rights to make it my own because I am just mimicking the original. Despite of it being traced, I am satisfied from a small photo on my computer screen, I can make it much bigger to fit on an A4 size bond paper.

This is just an example of my artwork. I love the Naruto Shippuden series and one of my favorite characters aside from Naruto is Itachi Uchiha. Itachi was considered a villain and a rogue ninja. Little did they know that Itachi was a hero in his own right. He concealed his heroism and love for his younger brother Sasuke Uchiha by disguising as an enemy to protect the majority, Konoha and of course his only brother. He even sacrificed his own happiness by annihilating his whole clan, killing his parents where he has to endure the guilt and pain. He fought his brother though he knew he could defeat him, his love is stronger thus, led to his death. He died a hero to a few but a killer and a villain to many.

The 2 photos are the same. I used red and black ballpoint pen and used pencil on some shaded part. I hope you’ll like it. Cheers!

For me, I think tracing is fine as long as you don’t brag that it’s originally yours which you clearly stated it in your blog. 🙌 Tracing is just like doing song covers. The original version is not from you but you try to mimic the original and maybe tweak it a bit because (1) you enjoy the act of sketching/singing, (2) you admire the artist/singer, and/or (3) you like the art/song. I actually learned how to draw/paint when I was in 6th grade but I never went back to arts. Now my hands are terrible even at tracing haha. I still admire you because not all can trace properly. Some doesnt have the patience that you got. So it is still a good job for me.

Thank you @nikkabomb. You are right. I know that I don't have the innate talent in sketching or drawing but I really love doing it. I really can't copy everything in a perfect manner that is why I tweaked it a little bit and finished what's missing on my own.

your Sketch is amazing .

Nice art, it is good you still did it even if it was traced, that's not an easy work.

It is quite challenging but my eagerness prevailed. I am really satisfied with my artwork though my hands were not built for arts. Thank you @jurich60.
