With my SD card formatted, years' worth of pictures were deleted. It's a tough decision to make considering how sentimental I am, but it's something I need to do, so I have no choice but to reluctantly let go of them. And that includes the pictures of the process of my oc making. Since I don't have something to share about the oc making process, I'll just skip it and proceed to the process of filling in the blank background of my oc. The background of my oc on the left side is strawberries and cigarettes (inspired by high school memories), and since it already has fruit on the left side, why not fill the right side's background with fruit again, right? But it should be something that's quite the opposite with sweet strawberries...and the first fruit that came to my mind is—the sour lemons.
But before I proceeded to the background, I finished first some stuff that I found off with my oc.
This is the picture before I proceed to darken the lines that were overlapped by markers during coloring.
This is the picture after, I don't know if you see the difference but for me, her eyes are more defined here.
After that, I immediately proceeded with the background, and of 'course I drew the lemons first, then filled the space with blues!
The lemons looks crappy at first, so I tried to make it look more decent so I added some details with white pen.
I feel that it would look bland if I left the space colorless, so I filled it in blue. The first layer looks messy that's why later on I added another layer of color.
It looked messy if I didn't color it again. I tried my very best to make it look good because these markers are bad at blending. It also bleeds a lot so I really need to be careful not to press it too hard or else the ink will blotch the paper.
Adding another layer of color to make it look less crappy hahaha...
Finally correcting some mistakes and adding the last touches.
Then I'm finally onto the last and most satisfying part of the background making, the ripping of masking tape! I put it before I started coloring the background because I know I'm clumsy in coloring. Better be safe than sorry, so I always put tape to avoid coloring the parts I shouldn't have colored.
Ripping it off—ahhh so satisfying~
Voilaaaa! Here's a close-up look of my oc and her background.
Overall, I didn't expect that I'd be finally done with the third page of my sketchbook. I'm fond of filling all the spaces, so finishing a page is really an achievement for me. Also, like I've said in my previous art blog, I draw based on my mood and most of the time my mood isn't good so most of the time I really laze off in continuing what I've started. Anyway, despite that sluggish progress, I still find it as an enjoyable experience because I felt no rush in finishing it so I definitely don't feel stressed or anxious while doing it, and for me feeling that way during my drawing process really matters.

Love the contrast between the lemons and blues! The details really bring it to life. Also, the masking tape peel is so satisfying! Excited for your next piece!
Thanks! I'm glad you loved it...I somehow struggled with deciding what color would I pair with the lemons to make it lively ('cause I'm really no good with colors lol), but thankfully I found an inspo that somehow served as my guide for the background.
Btw, thanks for stopping by and yes, hoping to see you on my next artblog.
This is so pretty and cute, did you also design the clothes in your subject? Anyways, the background design looks so cool though, I feel like the background style really help to enhances the main subject. Galing galing ✨✨👏
Luhhh thank you! Yep, ako ang nagdesign ng clothes nya, but I have some inspo (especially with the jeans)—like minix and match ko lang base sa oc na naiimagine ko. Also, I also made the background somehow connected sa oc kasi I'm really into matchy vibes hehe...
Btw, thanks for stopping by and I'm really flattered and happy that you find it pretty and cute~
Wahhh, that's more amazing ah. Even though with inspo, I'm sure you put your own touch into it which is really cool. Tapos binagayan pa ng background, luhhhh. Pengeng skills and talent na ganito sana 🤩✨. Hahhh, arts is really a cool thing.
I still have a long way to go, but thanks for the appreciation...yes, arts is really cool and fun thing to do. Practice is definitely the key kasi before hindi naman ganyan ang artstyle ko, but through drawing again and again eventually nag improve naman kahit papano.
You are so creative keep it up!☺️
Thanks! I'm happy you appreciate it...
Btw, thanks for stopping by and see you around.
Your art style is so good! Wish I can draw like that😭
Thank you! My artstyle wasn't that decent before; I just practiced drawing again and again until my artstyle somehow improved. Practice is really the key to progress, and I think you can definitely try drawing if you really want to.
Btw, thanks again for the compliment and for stopping by. Hope to see you around.
Amazing hands! One of the best talents of the universe where you can express yourself fully in drawing.
Thank you! Yes, I'm really thankful that somehow I can manage to draw decently, tho of 'course I still need to practice and hone it further to improve it more.
Btw, thanks for the kind words and for stopping by. Hope to see you around!
