Lilies are my favorite. There’s something about their shape and how many colors they come in—they never get boring to look at or draw. Each one feels different, even if the structure stays the same.

Lilien sind meine Lieblingsblumen. Ihre Formen und die vielen Farben faszinieren mich einfach – sie werden nie langweilig, egal ob man sie anschaut oder zeichnet. Jede wirkt auf ihre eigene Art, auch wenn der Aufbau ähnlich bleibt.

I usually work in black and white, especially with charcoal. But this time I wanted to bring out the color, and it made a huge difference. It pushed me out of my usual style, but in a good way.

Normalerweise arbeite ich in Schwarz-Weiß, vor allem mit Kohle. Aber dieses Mal wollte ich Farbe reinbringen – und das hat echt was verändert. Es war ein Schritt raus aus meinem üblichen Stil, aber es hat sich gelohnt.

I used Polychromos color pencils from Faber-Castell for this one. They're pricey, but you can really feel the quality. The way they layer and blend made it so much easier to get the look I wanted. Definitely worth it.

Für dieses Bild habe ich Polychromos-Farbstifte von Faber-Castell benutzt. Die sind zwar teuer, aber man merkt sofort, wie hochwertig sie sind. Man kann damit super schichten und mischen – genau das hat mir geholfen, den Effekt zu erreichen, den ich wollte. Hat sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt.
