Hi! Welcome to my post.
It has been a week since I've started learning painting and I was on the grind to learn as much as I can while I still have time.
This is my current piece, an attempt to put into practice the lessons that I have learned so far. I was studying color so I've decided to do an triadic color scheme in my art. Let me show you my procces:
First, I colored the background orange just so that I will a clear destinctions of my color. It is a good practice to always stablish the big shapes first on your drawings.
I then added the color blue to stablish the silhouette of my character. I tried going for more curvy lines to symbolize flow and elegance in my drawing.
I then went for the smaller details for the face after stablising the shape of the face using the color lime. a great analogy that we should always remember is "cake before the icing". The huge shapes and silhouettes first before the smaller, finer details. I tried limiting my stokes to conserve my brush economy here just to simplify the whole image.
I then added the mid-tones for my painting. I went for the more reddish pink color in the hair to compliment the blue and the orange.
I then added the highlights so that I could see where are the places that the light will directly hit. I don't know if it is the proper way but It really helps me stablish rhe light on my drawings.
I added a more redder shadows for my skin since it feels a little too light. It made the face pop out more and became the focal point of the image.
I then blend the colors in my painting using a different brush. I've decided to make the hair as the main focal point of the peice so I intentionally made it sharper.
I then changed the background into green and made a gradation of of grey to serve as shadow. I also soften the edges of my painting where I don't want the most attention.
Finally, I clean up the painting for last time and added some subtle details that I think will enhance the peice better.
So what do you think? You are free to critique my painting and tell me what I should do it improve myself. Thank you for checking by!
You’ve only been painting for a week!?? That’s incredible!
