Hello fellow Hiver's, I'm Back and it's your boy Sijhay. Are you enjoying reading my personal life journey? In this blog, I'm going to share with you guys my experience when I do portrait drawing.
As I was saying in my personal life journey through life and artistry, I really I enjoy drawing Portraits and any kind of artistry in this blog you will see how I do my commission portrait because I believe in Bob Ross saying that “It's the imperfections that make something beautiful, that's what makes it different and unique from everything else.” Guys, if you do not know Bob Ross he is a very great artist when it comes to landscaping and nature's painting that's why I like his work and idolizes his works.
Now, let's begin the process of my drawing. Let'zzz Goww….
There's some client contacted me in my social media account guys, he wanted me to draw his family for their anniversary. He thought that I could help him surprise her wife here in the Philippines through my skills because he is a Marine Engineer, he might not able to give it personally to his wife because he is in the ship that he is currently working, so we settled the payment we agreed in both sides agreement.
So I agreed to him that I can help and he sent me the picture that he wanted me to draw which is a family picture of him, his wife, his kid and a dog. Aren’t they cute? They look very happy and look at that smile of the doggie. At first, I saw the picture and I was like, oh nooo… I can’t draw dogs because I used to draw only people's faces. I haven’t tried drawing a dog, so I inform my client that, “Sir I'm not really good when it comes to pet drawings." And he replied that, “It's okay" The important things is he can have an anniversary gift to his family. So I replied “Okay Sir I will do my best and I will update you throughout the process."
So, I start drawing the dog first and it seams that it come out okay and I am very happy because it's my first time drawing a dog that has a lot of fur because I haven’t done any Dog portrait before, it is really hard for me to draw such as fur because of all the details of the hair it should be vey accurate to the reference that my client gave me. I update my client and he likes it. So, I proceed through the rest of my drawing.
Next, I draw his wife here guys, I started shading it should be like what it was in the reference, so that it will be going to come out perfectly.
In this phase guys, shading skin tone are very time consuming because you should very careful where to put the highest and lowest point of the face. When shading or putting charcoal in those area you should know about contouring some parts where lights hits the face in that area, it should be lighter and you should know where you go darker. Some of us artists are very scared when putting too dark in our drawing but if you don’t know how to determine where to put dark tone your drawing may appear flat and unrealistic.
Are you still with me Guys? We’re almost done here guys yeyy!!! Now I’m finishing touches of our drawing we are now 95% done with our Charcoal Drawing.
And we are 100% DONE here guys! Yehey, in this phase, I'm fully SATISFIED and HAPPY of the result because we did out best to satisfied our client. Every sleepless nights just to draw. No, not just draw, we put our heart and soul in this artwork and hard work that we put into it and that makes it very special too someone.
I know that we are artist we just need to practice and be creative on our own. We have different perspectives, we have different talents and that makes us unique as individuals. I know you can also do what you want, just keep on practicing. If you want more of this kind of blog guys, just tell me and I’m wiling to share with you more about arts.

Oh dear, you did an amazing job with the portrait, it came so good. Weldone.!LUV
It is a very beautiful painting, whoever has made it. He looks like a beginner artist who worked with such precision and detail to create such a picture.
Great job!
