One of the Christmas traditions I’ve created for myself is making handmade Christmas cards for the people I care about. I started doing this last year, and I loved it so much that I decided to do it again this year. Last year, I couldn’t hand-deliver the cards to friends who live far away, but I sent them digital versions of the artwork instead.
This year, I got an earlier start so I’d have plenty of time to finish and deliver everything. I kicked things off with this watercolor painting, which doubles as a Christmas card and a birthday gift.
To make it extra special, I found an old frame in a vintage shop to go with it. I had so much fun painting this little house—it was designed especially for the person who’s getting it, and the theme is something really meaningful to her.
I was honestly surprised by how quickly I finished this piece, especially since I don’t have much practice with watercolor and hadn’t touched it in ages. It made me realize how much I enjoy this hobby—watercolor might just be my favorite creative escape!
