Hello Paint Time fans! Today I have a little behind the scenes post for you all. When I started my adventures in learning to paint, I bought a painting kit from Viswin. This kit included 3 sets of paint.

So far, I have only opened the set of acrylics. I like this paint. But, I wanted to broaden my knowledge, by at least trying another kind of paint. I decided to open the watercolor paints and try my hand at painting something.

I didn't do too bad. I used the watercolor paper that came with the kit to get started. I went to You Tube to find some easy tutorials and learned the basic of the craft. I thought it would be messy with all the water, but it wasn't.

Learning the water control was a little tricky. At first I didn't add enough water, then I added too much. Through practice I was a master of the rinse, dab, dip, dab, dip, dip, paint process.

Although it was fun to learn a new paint, I still woke up the next day thinking, eeh.

I may go back from time to time to practice my loose florals, but for the landscape paintings, I will be using the acrylics... until I get up the nerve to open my oil paints. They are so intimidating.

My first attempt was a paint along with thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich
This painting took me back to my first paintings in acrylic. I liked the trees in the background.

I was still using the paint a little thick in this one.

Later on I tried to see if I could create some clouds. I like the effect of the water colors in this sky.

Finally I looked for practice beginners water color videos on You Tube and found a few that helped. Watercolour DRILLS And Practice Strokes To Help Master Your Loose Florals! by: Emma Jane Lefebvre, showed me some drills to create loose florals.

First she shows all the the different techniques, then she shows you how to put them all together.

I really had fun doing these loose florals. Since I had been learning the different flowers in acrylic, I am sure these different stokes will help me when it comes to my landscapes with flowers.
