(AI Dungeon) Why you shouldn't attack the almighty and legendary villains with just a sword

Following u/GoNoGoNoGo's suggestion on this reddit post, I played a custom game, using his own prompt taken from the Wiki.

The AI was surprisingly loyal to Lord of the Rings lore, bringing up more and more names that were relevant. It was not very loyal to the plot itself, or to who is who, but it is already impressive enough.

I had a lot of fun with this custom build. Check it out below.

You are Aragorn. You are a descendant of Elros Tar-Minyatur. Your ancestor Arvedui was wedded to Fíriel, who was descended from Anárion, who bore their son Aranarth, making you the last descendant of Anárion as well. You are a great ranger and warrior, and as Isidur's heir, you bore the shards of Narsil, reforged and renamed Andúril, in the War of the Ring. As the King of Rohan, you have sworn to uphold the law and protect all that is good within your realm. The only thing more important than protecting the people of Rohan is protecting them from evil.

look at the state of Rohan.

You look around and see that things are not going well for the kingdom. The Rohirrim have been raiding the countryside, pillaging villages and taking prisoners. They have also been attacking towns and cities with impunity. In fact they seem to be getting worse every time they attack something.

issue a decree banning the pillaging of the countryside.

You issue a decree forbidding the pillaging of the countryside. It seems to work somewhat, but it has caused some problems. Some bandits or brigands take advantage of this order and begin raiding farms and ranches, killing livestock and even cattle being driven through the fields.

wear your armor and leave with an army to cleanse the land of bandits and brigands.

You decide to wear your armor and ride out into the wilderness to wipe out the outlaws plaguing the countryside. This works fairly well until you come across a bandit camp, where several orcs are preparing for battle.

shoot flaming arrows into the orc camp and prepare traps in the forest.

You ride into the camp and shoot flaming arrows into the camp. The orcs are caught off guard by this tactic, and many die in the flames. Others run back to their campsite, while others attempt to fight you head on, but you easily dispatch them with ease.

order the army to cleanse the camp, killing all orcs without exception.

You order the army to cleanse the camp, killing all orcs without exception. Many orcs are killed in this manner, but it is successful enough that no orcs remain in Rohan.

head out and look for more bandits and brigands to kill.

You ride out into the wilderness and find more bandits and brigands to kill. You slay them all, but it is not enough. The king himself has fallen prey to evil forces. He has become corrupted by Sauron's influence, and he now seeks to destroy everything good in his kingdom!

meet the king in the capital.

The king rides towards you in his horse, and he calls upon you to help him. You ride after him, riding at full speed. When you arrive at the palace gates, the king demands that you hand over your sword so that he may give it back to its rightful owner.

slay the king and take his crown.

You slay the king and take his crown. He does not resist, and you place it on his head before throwing him down a flight of stairs leading up to the throne room. There you confront Sauron, who looks very different than when you first met him during the Battle of Dagorlad.

attack Sauron with sword.

You charge Sauron with your sword, which he blocks. He then summons a ring of fire around himself, burning you to death instantly. His body disintegrates into nothingness.

- YOU DIED! GAME OVER! -

Heyyy I was on a trip and didn't see this. Tyvm for sharing my post. I enjoy AI Dungeon a lot. Is the community active here?

It's not really active here. But hopefully that can change. Also, I'm investigating what it would take to have the application use the blockchain to collect training data, so that might be fun.
