As I promised yesterday, I am gonna be sharing the reason behind this digital illustration today. For almost 2 years I have been following the Dean Schneider’s Instagram account where he shares his knowledge about living with wild animals. Yes. LIVING. This is the first reason that got me very interested in his page. Recently I have been reading and understanding his posts with more understanding rather than just for fun.
Of course you can see many many types of animals in the habitat but the ones that took me attention were the lion pride! I can even sort of identify the lions in the videos by their names! I remember Snow, Nayla, Dexter and Kiara haha! The connection and bond which is shown there is just mind boggling. Of course the first thought in my head was “How is he not scared?” “What if lions hurt him or something worse?”
But one thing I learnt was that despite their predatory nature, they still treat him as one of their own! The love that the lions and him shower on each other is just SUPER heart warming! The best thing that I have heard him say is people just want to experience the good side, the easy side. But when you love someone you have to accept both the good and the ugly. That is the only way you build trust. By being one of them and being vulnerable! This definitely stirred something deep within me and hence this illustration. I don’t remember which one of the lion/lioness is here in the painting but I absolutely adore the way they hug and show love! 🧡🧡🧡
