I wanted to see if I could spin up a dlux.io node. Dlux is a sidechain off of HIVE, and uses HIVE for authentication. In order to spin up a node, I had to have a HIVE user account associated with it. For security reasons, I didn't want to put my main account keys (@amphlux) on the server in case it got compromised. So I made an account, @amphlux.dlux that I could then use its keys to create the node.
A few known users around hive do this. You will see a lot of users with something like @username.leo or something similar, for the account they use on LEO. Its a way of spreading out keys/wealth in a more secured way.
Ah, all right, thank you for the explanation.
no problem!
