ABOMINATION?

Superstition? Abomination? Like seriously? Wait ,do you really mean that? So you can't shave his hair until you have 2 fat bulls and also organise some kind of feast for the kids?
This is unbelievable.

To me it's unbelievable. I don't know how you see dreadlocks.
Yes I mean children that are born with dread hair and the sacrifices that has to be done before water or blade can touch their hair.

Most people observe it as something sacred and should be handled with care to avoid provoking the spirit of the child.
Some people believe that when a child's dread is shaved without performing some ritual or sacrifice that in less than one year, the child is bound to die or the person that shave the hair will be tormented with madness or some life difficulties.

Well, to me I would say these are belief or maybe superstition believes that have pinned alot of people down to observing such rituals and sacrifices in the name of liberation.

There was this neighbour of mine who had a child that has dreadlock hair. The child was always sick and never lookin' good even at a tender age when most babies looks chubby and attractive.

Most people in the compound doesn't like carrying the child because of his long choky dreadlock ,and most people sees him as a fetish child.

A closer look at this child at age 3, you would think,he is still a one year old baby but that's not true.

My mum has suggested to the mother of the child to shave the child's hair so that the baby could have a breadth of life but she refused vehemently longing for the day should would be able to raise money to make a feast and slaughter two He goats even when she was just living from hand to mouth.

After sometimes, like about a some months, one faithful day,my mum decided to take the bul by horn.

The mother of the child left him in our care to go and hawk sachet water and bottle drink at the park.
When she left,my mummy asked me to go and buy scissors which I did without asking questions.
But my curiosity increased when mum locked the door and ask the poor boy to sit down.

He sat down and my mum shaved his hair without the parents consent.

Ouch!! That's crazy right? I thought as much too.

Guess what?
After shaving this boys hair,he touched his hair and smiled . His action showed a sign of great relief as mum took him to the bathroom and bath him and then changed him to something nice.

When the boys mum returned by evening, hell was let loose.

My mum came out and made a public oath binding her life ,that if anything should happen to the boy, that she should be held responsible . It was this oath that brought the issue to a suspended silence as all eyes was now on the boy waiting for the day he would die since no sacrifice was observed.

Days rolled into months and this little boy was waxing stronger and healthier each day. Trust me this boy added flesh and the constant sickness vanished from that very day he was shaved.

Months rolled into years and he was living his normal life.

So one day ,the mother came to our apartment and was thanking my mummy for what she did for her and the son.

My mummy seized the opportunity to tell her that whatever you belief is what will work for you.

Guess what? It was from this woman's report that a friend of hers that also had two children with dreadlock had them shaved without sacrifice or rituals and they are bubbling with life til today.

So what do you think about this belief?
