These days have been crazy. There is no where to start. The world changed, and it is likely that when we are telling our children the story of this one day each one will tell their own version of how they lived it. There will be dark and painful stories, as well as healthy and personal growth stories, because in each part of the world we are all living it differently and each one has suffered according to the intensity of their region and their own lifestyle.
It has not been easy, and everyone has lost something. Some of us have lost opportunities and projects that we had planned to happen, others have lost fathers, mothers, grandparents and really important people. Before starting this post I want to extend my condolences to people of Italian, Spanish, Chinese and American descent, as I am an active reader of Hive, and day by day I see how the devastating impact of this virus has taken so many precious human lives .
It is not easy, but from Venezuela they have someone who understands and respects their pain, because I have friends who have suffered the ravages of the pandemic in these countries and all I have to do is pray for them and their well-being.
I am deeply grateful to @theycallmedan for always presenting these kinds of initiatives, which allow us to let go a little and not feel so alone in all this, in addition to being able to be objective and see all sides of the coin. In addition to the fact that they are so well voted, it is very helpful for those of us with a inestable economy and currently we only depend on the hard work we do in Hive (at least my case).
The initiative asks to speak about the following:
- What is your coronavirus story; how has it affected you? (your life, financially, health or otherwise)
- Have you or someone you know been effected with the coronavirus, how are they now, what was it like for them?
- Have you used this time to strengthen bonds with loved ones, do you feel you'll come out of this a better person?
- Do you have any photos/videos to share of where you're hunkering down? Show us how you spend your 24 hours as a prisoner xD
- If you haven't been practicing social distancing, why, & what's the world like out there by you?
Here I go:

What is your history of coronavirus? How has it affected you? (your life, financially, health or other):
I am a fourth year student in the field of medicine and as my country complies with a socialist government scheme (no, it does not work in the least, I swear, believe me). The truth about confirmed coronavirus cases was not wanted. Therefore, the guidelines of the hospital were "to maintain activities because there were no cases of COVID19 in the region", which is why, despite the suspicions of cases that arrive at the hospital, isolate patients with symptoms that came from other parts of the world and gave little (if not null) information in this regard, kept us attending the hospital until finally the discrete numbers could not be kept and the first cases were confirmed.
After that, all the changes happened in the blink of an eye, they militarized all common traffic routes, closed land terminals, suspended the sale of fuel to cars (including public transportation), suspended all kinds of academic and work activities , imposed the use of masks to enter the places of food and social distancing. There began to be rounds of national guards that detained the population after 4 in the afternoon if they passed through the streets. Thousands upon thousands of fake news circulating on WhatsApp networks that were not correctly identified and were only seeking to generate collective panic. They closed the transit of entrance to complete urbanizations. Each person was isolated, it is obvious that these were security measures for the contingency of the virus but ...
Do you take into account that this country was already experiencing an economic and social crisis before this? Many people had to leave their homes daily to receive payment for their jobs, and they do not receive a penny if they do not work their hours correctly. Even state employees took additional jobs since the monthly "minimum wage" payment is equivalent to: 1 kg of meat, 1 kg of cheese, 1 box of eggs. And no, I'm not lying to you, just ask any citizen of my country. So this for Venezuelans was: A health crisis, within an economic crisis, within a social crisis, within an electrical crisis.
So unfortunately there are people who do not have access to the internet and others who, even if they do, have no idea how to take advantage of it. Or what is even worse: They work from the internet but do not have a good electricity service. For example here is my case:
This is my quarantine right now: Everything is in the dark, it is very hot, I cannot go out for a snack because there is nothing open and I would go to jail, I have little money because I cannot go out to work, I am sitting sweating and thinking: God give me the strength not to feel miserable, and take care of those who are living worse circumstances than mine.
At no time did I want to give a pessimistic tone to this post, and it is not my intention that I continued in that way, so let's say the "negative" and "positive" in a brief summary and continue:
My life: I have had free time that has helped me to find many things that I like and put my time to good use. I cannot see my parents because they are a population at risk and I could not move to see them even if I wanted to. I did not return to attend the hospital to see my classes since the total suspension decree.
Financially: HELP.
Have you or someone you know been affected by the coronavirus, how are they now, how was it for them?
Some cases were confirmed in the urbanization where my mother lives, so it was devastating as in a matter of hours they were isolated from everything. However, the waters calmed little and they are already allowed to move until 2 PM. Unfortunately the mother of a classmate who is in Spain died of the coronavirus (Apparently she was an asthmatic woman), which was devastating for her, since she and all her brothers and family are here, and her mother was her economic support apart from that they were all very united. She tells me that what hurts her most is that her mother died alone and isolated. No contact with anyone, no hugs ... no parting.
You have used this time to strengthen ties with your loved ones, do you think you will come out of this best person?
I have not been able to have much contact with my parents, since they do not have access to the Internet and the telephone signal is a joke. However, I hope they are well, and I pray for them every day.
I have no idea or certainty if we will be "better people" when this is over, because that is something that comes from the heart of everyone and from their own nature. Despite this, what you might think is that we will all come out wiser, because we are learning many lessons the hard way, things that we simply ignore and do not want to face. Many do not want what they call "ecological garbage", I think it is not garbage, and that it is an important issue. We have violated the soul and resources of this planet so much that it is simply getting rid of us and the plague we represent to it. It may sound crude or hostile, but what we have been doing for years (emaciating, stripping, destroying, taking ... and not looking back) is a thousand times cruel.
I don't know how many months this will last, but if the earth can heal a little of our rape, so be it.
Do you have any photos/videos to share of where you're hunkering down? Show us how you spend your 24 hours as a prisoner
I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I don't cooking literally all the time, sometimes I like to be there because it feels like a quiet place. It is normal to see me sitting at the marble counter, or opening the fridge at least 1000 times a day.
If you have not been practicing social distancing, why and how is the world for you?
If I have been practicing social distancing. I don't feel bad about it, because I know that this way I don't contribute to more unnecessary deaths. I take care of myself, I take a lot of care of my partner (maybe too much), I put alcohol on his hands when we go in and out of some place, I do not let him go out to buy groceries just because I am terrified that he touches things without care and does not disinfect himself. I go cleaning their bank cards every time someone touches them, etc. It may seem a little exaggerated, but I prefer to be looked at strange than something to happen to him.
I know it has been a hard journey, for some more than others. Each one knows his own difficulties, and how he has been affected. But be strong, we will get out of this, and although the price to pay was expensive, so will our learning. We are going to recover, Iike planet, as people and as individuals.
You have to have imagination for reality, because it is we who are going to create it when everything is over.
thanks for sharing, wish you all the best!

Thank u!! ok haha
hope you reunite with family soon
the official corona numbers in VZ are pretty low but you country is still on lockdown. how come?
Those figures that are handled at the official level are very far from the real ones. That is why the security measures are so severe but the number of infections is so low.
Muchas gracias por este post.
No se bien que decir... mucho respecto por tu situacion.
Un abrazo
Muchas gracias a ti por leer. Vendrán tiempos mejores (algún día) Saludos!!
It's admirable that you are staying strong in these harsh conditions.
Hope everything turns out good for you and your family.
TAKE CARE!
