This painting for me is the most terrible and painful of all the others I have created.
On December 24, 2022, I woke up at 5 am to a phone call from my dad who told me two words that remain lost in the mirrors of my heart.
He said "get up, it's started"
It was the first day of the war.
I felt panic and horror, complete uncertainty of what will happen tomorrow.
And with the feeling that tomorrow may not come, I decided to paint this picture.
It is a mother and child.
They are going somewhere, they had to leave without a father.
In an open field, a mother covers her child with her body, from the misfortune that rushes at them with a seething sky.
Now there is faith and hope that Ukraine will endure, become stronger and closer to each other and to the entire civilized world.
But when I pick up this picture, every time nausea rises in my throat, and my father's words "get up, it's started" revolve in my ears.
I won’t even say I can begin to understand what that moment felt like for you. It seems you were able to find a sense of ease creating this beautiful piece of art. It’s beautiful but at the same time I know can be frightening with all of the uncertainties. Keep that faith and hope alive ~
I noticed you posted in OCD and then cross posted to OnChainArt. For future reference (no need to change anything now) we ask that you please post in the community that best fits your topic first and then feel free to cross post here in OCD afterwards.
Thanks so much. Many blessings and prayers for safety sent your way ~
War is one of the most worst thing in life because so many things will be distory lifes, properties and alot of good things you can thing of. I really feel for those that lost their things, lives and love ones.
This picture is very beautiful and somehow optimistic - I think it transforms the nature of the Ukrainian people, whose strength, bravery and endurance was not obvious to the world until February 2024. I am not a Ukrainian, but the night of Feb 24,2022 is one of the most terrible nights for me too. Stay strong and let you (and all of us) win soon.
I love your style and texture
Hard subject matter. You did well though. 👏
It's a great way to process feelings, isn't it. To create and release them
