When does a person change?

The only answer I have come up with over the years is a word.
Be skeptical.
That is, tell yourself once whether this is true or false
Example. I had a friend who was very attached to the behavior of his ancestors. Customs that are everywhere in the world
When they bought a vehicle or anything, they beheaded a chicken or a sheep and rubbed the animal's blood on the vehicle. Of course, this culture is common among our people in Iran now, and I really do not know why.
My friend's answer was that since it has been done for hundreds of years, we will do it too. I once told him to doubt it
And I explained to him why you did not once think that maybe previous generations were wrong. After a while, he asked me to explain. He was upset for a while about why he was doing this.
We need to be skeptical of anything that happens all the time
And tell ourselves whether this is true or false
Logic speaks the truth.
It is difficult to act emotionally.
My earlier example was for religion
Another Example
Others have always influenced us, and we obey and execute. I had a friend who was always looking for expensive things, like cell phones, cars, but he was never happy with them.
I asked him why he was trying to prove himself to others
That was his answer
He said, "Others do the same thing to be stylish and to be an arithmetic person. I do the same thing."
I told him that if there is no one in the world, you will do it again. Are you important or others?
He said to himself and after a while he changed his mind a little. And others were no longer important to him.
We have to doubt anything
Doubt religions, why they are, who created them.
Let us doubt what we do and why
Many laws of cultures may be wrong and we just repeat them and do not know why.
