Hello! My name is Ben aka @backlogger on here for a project of clearing out my backlog. I initially posted about this project in Hive Gaming and was invited to make an intro post by incublus (thanks for the pointers!). I'm a software engineer with a background in game design and development (though I've been away from that industry for a while, still dabble occasionally as a hobby). It makes sense then that I'm an avid gamer and enjoy discussing games not only from a "is it good" perspective but also breaking down mechanics and gameplay. I've tried blogging a few times, but it really hasn't stuck - hoping to create something here natively rather than having to create readership through social media engagement. So that brings me to my project/goal - the backlog.
What is the backlog? It's an accumulation of way too many games (and some other media including books and movies) from over the years - things I bought but never played/watched/read (or played briefly and moved on to the new hot thing that just came out). I'm reminded of this specifically of this time of year where there's a bunch of sales though I know I really shouldn't buy anything else...

Even with communities such as Patient Gamers on Reddit, there's always a gravitation towards more well known titles opposed to discovery. From what I saw on Hive Gaming here, there's much more of a community and discussion around older/less well known games (though there's quite a few popular titles on my to play list). I think there may be some good commentary that comes from this, and hopefully some of you find this at least some what interesting to explore.
I'm looking forward to many fruitful discussions to come and delving into this project with you all!
You are welcome to the most reliable, hive community blockchain . Looking forward to what you have for us. Enjoy yourself, don't plagiarize and explore. Best of luck!🥂You are welcome @backlogger
