VINTAGE ~ adjective
: of old, recognized, and enduring interest, importance, or quality : CLASSICVintage is definitely a word that can make a person feel old. Taking a look at some of the items considered vintage today, it's quite remarkable. If only I knew then what I know now. Twenty-five years ago, if someone had told me that one day my He-Man: Masters of the Universe action figures and Space Station Lego sets would be worth thousands of dollars, I would have looked at them in the same manner I often looked at the TV series, Sesame Street when I was very young. Regarding Big Bird, Oscar, and the other friendly monsters that lived there and always seemed to be having fun, my inner thought monologue was something along the lines of, "I like the idea of that, and I hope it's real, but I'm pretty sure it's not."
No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. That's right. It's your favorite disco decade dreamboat, younger brother to the three Bee Gees. The year was 1978. It was the time of glitz. It was the time of glamour. It was the time of way too many sequined shirts. It was the time of Shadow Dancing with Andy Gibb.
I'm not sure how you celebrate the holidays, but for me, if I don't get my regular dose of John Denver and Muppets, A Christmas Together, circa 1979, then you might as well just tell me Santa Claus doesn't exist.
The three records above, represent a time when people seemed to care more about music. Put more time and effort into selecting it and because of that, those albums all contained fully illustrated stories on the inside. Essentially, all three are books/records. Very cool. They certainly don't make them like that anymore, so, maybe "vintage" is a great way to describe these items.
