There is something about those straight and tidy photos; I think they talk to the part in
us that wants to understand and categorize everything. For me sometimes it is a nice
exercise in composition, but it also carries within a certain emptiness which has been brought
into photography by the strong presence of the 'German School' in the last 3 decades.
Maybe Gursky, Ruff, Struth all have been a strong factor in pushing photography
into art's sphere, but in the long run I think it is a loss. A loss of the heart in art.
*Germany has developed a very stringent tradition of formal photography, especially in
the famous Düsseldorf school of arts under the dogmas of the Becher-couple.

This is very interesting! German way of looking at things! Very different from the Chinese approach in calligraphy!
Sometimes it seems Germans have computers for hearts ;)
