In this episode, the hosts dive deep into the challenges and possibilities of content creation on the Hive blockchain. The conversation focuses on the evolution of Hive's creator community, the impact of fluctuating rewards, and the power of collaboration in #Web3 spaces.
A Rocky Start: The Struggles of Content Creators
The episode kicks off by reflecting on the early days of Hive(steemit), when creators were highly motivated by the booming cryptocurrency #rewards. Back then, it felt like a thriving ecosystem where content could turn into real income. However, as Hive's rewards began to dwindle, so did the enthusiasm for many creators. Despite the initial optimism, it became clear that #Hive, at least in its current state, was not the financial goldmine some had hoped for. The hosts discuss how this shift led to decreased motivation and a sense of uncertainty for creators who were relying on the platform as a primary source of income.
Passion Over Profit: The True Spirit of Content Creation
Despite the challenges, the conversation turns toward the core of what drives true content creators: passion. One of the key points raised is that creators who are genuinely passionate about their craft are less motivated by financial rewards and more by the joy of creating. For them, producing #content is not a job—it’s an extension of their identity. The hosts stress that Web3 platforms like Hive must focus on reigniting that passion, helping creators connect with others who share their interests, and building a community that values collaboration over mere profit.
The Importance of Collaboration
One of the most important aspects discussed is collaboration. The early days of Hive saw creators working together on projects that brought out the best in everyone. This sense of #teamwork, however, has faded somewhat over time. CBRS and @buttcoins brainstorm ideas on how to revive this spirit. They envision projects where creators from various disciplines come together, like collaborative #video challenges, group storytelling, or even cooking challenges. The idea is simple: bring creators back together to create something larger than the sum of their parts.
The Path Forward: Reviving the Hive Spirit
Looking toward the future, the hosts and their guest emphasize the need for better #onboarding processes, more collaborative opportunities, and a focus on maintaining the energy of the early Hive days. While the platform faces challenges, they believe Hive still has the potential to grow—if creators can work together and reignite the spark that made the platform special in the first place.
Sticky Fingers and Creative Momentum
The episode concludes with a powerful message from the guest: "If you’ve got sticky fingers, you can build something great."(maybe a collab song with @stickupboys?) Whether you’re creating solo or as part of a team, staying connected and keeping the momentum going is key to keeping creativity alive.
people post on twitter etc for free.....some good points bro!
@buttcoins + @stickupboys = a very cool song "sticky fingers" 😁
A good post that really covered a few years of Hive's history. I totally agree with the term:
😎
It's true, at least for me. I have certain things in my life, and I post about them. I did that even when Steemit was around. But one has to remember, at least I think so, that the value of a post does not have to be seen through the prism of fiat currencies, but through the prism of cryptocurrencies. And this is where Hive, with blockchain, DPOS, DAO, DHF, is almost entirely self-sufficient. It has its shortcomings, like any system. But I can't see a better system that rewards content creators in the current universe.
For a lot op content creators steemit was the perfect place to post, cause not only did you have a platform to express yourself but also earn, and I mean some earned a lot! So a mix of earning and Fun was like a dream for a lot of us. But the true content creators that do it for the love of it stayed on Hive and we need to all get together and be more active with each others content and just mingle and always post it on every other social media so other can see how much fun we are all having here.
Fun show Boys! Thanks for the invite! Time to activate the ‘sticky fingers’
Thank you so much for taking the time to be at our Podcast buddy 😍
what do you actually do with google? you mentioned it few times but i did not understand.
I think it was about Google maps. You know how users can Contribute on google maps by sharing an image of a place? Well, what we do is, we take a photo of an intersting place but we also add a Sticker wiyh QR code inviting those who see this image to Hive. I think we also wrote a short article about that.
had an idea with NFC chips while listening to the podcast. but it would require to visit the place 2 times. Frist to take the photos and write a post about the place and then to put the sticker with the post link programed to it there.
With something like TAP HERE TO KNOW MORE or what ever. And it is better than QR code because you can program specific different link for every place on the same sticker. (the price of it is probably around 10eur for 50 pcs)
I think inleo mentioned something about sharing a link of a post has a referral code in the link, so maybe it could also be used to see if people are making accounts from it ( @khaleelkazi could confirm if they added that).
peakd has a decent viewcounter so that could also be interesting to see are people "clicking" it.
Here is an exam0le post: https://peakd.com/hive-147010/@like2cbrs/hive-sticker-promo-6-amare-concert-hall
