Mothering Sunday Not Mother's Day.

I have been on Social media since and I have noticed a common mistake that most of us here could have made about what we celebrate today.

I have been seeing some people posting Happy mother's day and I definitely know that today is not mother's day but mothering Sunday.

What is the difference between the two,you would ask?

Now let us look at this little clarity.

The word "Mothering" would mean how a child is being nutured especially by their mother.

That is Mothering could also be referred to in the real sense as "Nurturing."

Mothering Sunday is a day for celebrating how children are being raised and nutured.
But don't forget that mother's may not be the only one that nurture a child, Father's could and so also teachers.

Mothering Sunday in the real sense is celebrated every Fourth Sunday of lent (which the Catholics also call Laetare Sunday).

Mother's Day itself is a celebration of Mother's and we need not to be reminded of who mother's are, their roles and responsibilities.
Mother's Day is celebrated every year on the second Sunday in the month of May.

So let us note that, today is the Fourth Sunday of Lent, and it is Mothering Sunday and not Mother's Day.
