Piyaju is the simple recipe. Every people easily make this piyaju.
Ingredients and quantity
Lentils - 1 cup
Onion crumbs - 2 medium size
Chili powder - 7-8 hours or to taste
Rice powder - 1 and 1/2 tablespoon
Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
7.Salt - 3/4 teaspoon or to taste
8 Oil - As much as it takes to deep fry
Preparation:
First, wash the lentils well and soak them in lukewarm water for 2-3 hours. It is best if you keep it wet the night before, keep it wet all night. Then you can add water and blend it in a blender or you can also grind the pulses with a fork. No need to blend very finely. Take it to be a little grainy. Take the blended or bata dal in a bowl and mix it well with all the ingredients except oil. Now heat the oil in a pan and take 1 tablespoon of the dal mixture in a round shape and leave it in the oil. Add more onion oil to the pan and fry on both sides on medium heat till light brown. Thus fry all the onions and serve hot on your iftar table.
