Ok, I'll have to admit that I missed this gem back in 2015, I think I would have loved it. I was too immersed in mormon (yes, I was a mormon for three years) things and other business at that time, maybe that's why I missed it. But the other day our friend Marina, started talking and talking (she talks a lot) about a movie that is one of their top favorites and she started role playing some of the best scenes and she even could not have recommended us more the movie. This movie is Kung Fury and it is an over the top action film with lots of easter eggs and inspiration from old movies and series of the 80s and 90s. Marina is a little bit older than us so she understands a little bit better all the winks and references that the movie has. So, after a couple of days we gave this little short film a chance and we were impressed!
The movie features a Miami cop that from unusual and crazy circumstances gains incredible Kung Fu powers. Every scene is crazier than the last one, the visual effects are astounding and they even simulate how VHS movies used to look in old TV screens.
The short movie is only 31 minutes and can be watched completely on YouTube. This was a successful Kickstarter Project were some famous directors gathered and formed a team called Laser Unicorns that was lead by David Sandberg who also plays Kung Fury on the film. They were able to gather more than 630K USD with almost 18,000 supporters. The official website has more information about the project and there was also a Steam game. I don't want to spoil more of this great film, so I'm going to share with you the YouTube Link.
