Jujutsu Kaisen is the typical manga of the Shonen genre, with many visually spectacular fights and power ups everywhere. Badass characters and villains also badass, and that despite having all the typical of the manga of this genre is quite entertaining to read, because despite all that, he knows how to capture it very well in his story.
The story of Jujutsu Kaisen focuses on fighting demons, yes, this is already a story seen in many mangas, but it's always interesting to see how each author's version is with this kind of topics and how to create a universe with its own rules based, in this case, in a world where there are demons.
The story focuses on "Yiju Itadori" who is a normal high school student, although a character with quite outstanding abilities to be a normal human being. One day when he was in the hospital, his grandfather told him that when he was going to die he should make sure he was surrounded by people, being this a phrase that the main character will have in his mind for quite some time.
After this they officially introduce the second protagonist of this manga (although they had already shown him before, they had not shown us his name), he is "Megumi Fushiguro", and he is a student of a "special high school", since this one is in charge of exorcism or in more "technical" words in the extermination of demons and curses. Megumi Fushiguro is there on a mission, as a cursed object of great spiritual power has been detected. Something I didn't mention before is that Yiju Itadori is in an occult group, which is formed by only 3 people (Itadori included). After Megumi asked Yuji for this cursed object, the main character tells her that he gave it to the other members of the group, since they wanted to test it and remove the seal that is on that object.
Later, after such news Megumi quickly moves to the high school, where the other two are, but it is too late and they have removed the seal, so things already started to go wrong. Demons begin to appear and Megumi displays her abilities, summoning two wolves to help to fight. They are too strong for Megumi, however, and it is at this point that Itadori makes her grand entrance, kicking the demon out. It turns out that these demons want that cursed item to gain more power, that item being one of several fingers of another very powerful demon, which the organization Megumi belongs to wants to destroy.
After much explaining, as this manga takes its time to explain certain terms, the demon leaves Megumi badly hurt so as the two are cornered, Itadori does the unthinkable and eats the cursed finger. In doing so he unleashes the power of the demon that contained that object and easily removes the demon with a single blow. And so, so generically, but visually satisfyingly, with a simple story (unless at first) this manga begins. I see a lot of potential in this manga, in fact, since I started reading it a few months ago I was already thinking about it, and my thoughts were right when they announced an adaptation to the anime, which I think will be released this year.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a manga whose drawing style reminded me a bit of Bleach, or at least in the first drawings of the Bleach manga. However Jujutsu Kaisen is a manga with its own style, able to present visually spectacular and dynamic battle scenes. And although it is a bit explanatory, because this manga handles many "weird" terms and needs to explain them well for the reader to understand them, it does not become totally boring because it has a lot of text.
