Vivo en una isla del Caribe con forma de mariposa llamada Guadalupe, acá se habla creole y francés, se come un casabe pastoso con rellenos diversos, se degusta un caracol marino llamado Lambi y se toca y se baila el Gwoka, además desde finales de enero se siente la euforia del carnaval.

I live on a butterfly-shaped island in the Caribbean called Guadeloupe. Creole and French are spoken here, a pasty cassava with various fillings is eaten, a marine snail called Lambi is tasted and the Gwoka is played and danced, also since the end of January the euphoria of the carnival is felt.

Here the guillotine came to cut off heads a few centuries ago and although the threat of that instrument to decapitate is no longer there, hurricane seasons are always cause for alert because sometimes a cyclone can be so powerful as to rip off roofs like the guillotine cut heads.

Es una tierra que vive vibrando porque por debajo hierve la lava viva de un volcán que no duerme completamente: La Soufrière. Muy cerca de él habito yo y desde casa puedo ver el aliento sulfúrico que sale de su boca inmensa: las fumarolas.

It is a land that lives vibrating because below it boils the living lava of a volcano that doesn’t sleep completely: La Soufrière. I live very close to it and from home I can see the sulfuric breath that comes out of its immense mouth: the fumaroles.

Here I will bring stories of where I come from, where I am, but also where I am going. So I can talk about the Caribbean, the sea and the city, witches and devils, salsa, dance, percussion or rum, writers, poets and guerrillas, the subway, buses, taxis, books, books and bookstores, photographers and photography, non-Hollywood movies and even some secrets and not so secrets of the life I live and that of others.

He participado en varios talleres de narrativa que no sé si me han servido para mejorar algo pero al menos me han confirmado que mis deseos van por allí: escribir historias, esto no lo he hecho con fundamento, pero espero acomodarme y ponerle orden a esta vocación que creo tener. Por eso seguí el consejo de mi buena amiga @sofathana de abrir mi espacio en HIVE y armar mi presentación.

I have participated in several narrative workshops that I don't know if they have helped me to improve something but at least they have confirmed that my desires are there: to write stories, I have not done this with any foundation, but I hope to accommodate myself and put order into this vocation that I think I have. That's why I followed the advice of my good friend @sofathana to open my space on HIVE and put together my presentation.
